Boreas and Notus are two complementing pins that take the form of the two gods. Between the two, there are three different styles of settings, all hand cut and each piece meticulously fabricated from reclaimed stock. Boreas is composed of sharp, cold features such as its “tail feathers” and its smooth matte finish. The main wing is lined with bright cut bead settings while the lower is adorned with normal beaded pave.
The hairpin is a re-creation of a custom design commissioned by figure skating champion and national competitor, Alyssa Rich. Changes were made to the setting on the “beak” and the placement of the clip was altered so that the piece could be worn on the side of the head instead of a bun. The original piece was a coordinated design to embody her own characteristics as well as her skating - Eurus retains the same motifs.
The hair clip is a smaller, much more reserve version of her older counterpart. Pave lines the wings that adhere to the same gentle curves present in the rest of the collection. Zephyrus is the complementing pin to Eurus, juxtaposing the high polish and prong settings. The “beak” is without a stone and the plumage lacks the quills present in the rest of the pins. Zephyrus is truly the gentlest of the lot.
Notus, like the summer wind, is rounded and warm yet overwhelming and blinding. It features the same style of pave as Boreas’ lower wing. The set has a hinged mechanism and they can be worn in tandem as hairpins or as brooches.
